"10 or so hairs each are taken from the heads of around 80 people. The hairs are pulled out rather than cut off – they thus consist of a natural root and a cut-off end. The hairs are then drawn individually through a dry adhesive and dropped onto a sheet of paper. Each donor's hairs differ not only in length, colour and thickness but also in the form in which they fall and stick to the sheet of paper. An infinite variety of lines is created, analogous to lines drawn with different grades and widths of pencil."
